Embarked Fremantle per ‘Ascanius’ 29.6.1915.
Roll Rank Private.
Roll Unit 7th Reinf, ‘D’ Company, 28th Battalion, AIF.
Shaw disembarked Egypt. Joined MEF at Alexandria. Embarked per ‘Ivernia’ for Gallipoli 4.9.1915. To hospital 26.9.1915 with ANZAC Influenza. Transferred by HS ‘Gloucester’ to Malta with Scarlet Fever 1.10.1915. He was transferred to Ghajn, Tuffieha Malta 11.12.1915. He embarked per ’Bornu’ for Egypt on discharge from hospital. Shaw rejoined his unit 6.3.1916. He joined the BEF in Alexandria and embarked for France 16.3.1916. He disembarked at Marseilles 21.3.1916. The 28th Bn fought their fist major engagement in Europe at Pozieres btween July 28th-August 6th. Saw was KIA 29.7.1916 at Pozieres He was buried 1 mile East of Thiepval and 4 miles North East of Albert, France. In 1922, his body was exhumed and reinterred to Trench Cemetery, Courcelette, 5 ½ Miles North North East of Albert, France Plot 7, Row K, Grave 18.
