Shenn disembarked in Egypt. He proceeded to Alexandria, joined the MEF and embarked for Gallipoli 5.4.1916. He was promoted to Sgt. 1.9.1914 and to Sgt Major 27.7.1915. Shenn was wounded in action with a gunshot wound to his right thigh and hip . He was evacuated to Egypt and admitted to Cairo Hospital 5.5.1915. Shenn rejoined his unit 18.7.1915 and proceeded to Gallipoli. He was promoted to Company Sergeant Major (CSM) 27.7.1915. Shenn became sick with dysentery 6.9.1915, this was then diagnosed as Colitis 16.9.1915. Shenn was evacuated to Mudros Hospital then to St. David’s Military Hospital Malta. He transferred from 3rd Field Coy. He was evacuated with AIF Troops to Alexandria in 4.12.1915 and was then was attached to HQ 29.12.1915. Shenn was taken on strength with the 4th FA at Moascar 31.1.1916. He transferred to the 5th Division 9.3.1916 and joined the 4th Pioneer Bn. was promoted to 2nd Lieut.12.3.1916. Shenn proceeded to Alexandria, joined the BEF and embarked for France 4.6.1916. He disembarked at Marseilles 11.6.1916 and joined the 4th Pioneer Bn. at the front. Shenn was wounded in action at Pozieres (concussion) 7.8.1916. He was blown up by a High Explosive (HE) and was buried for 15 minutes. Shenn suffered shell shock and was hospitalized in England for 2 weeks from 12.10.1916. He rejoined his Unit 22.1.1917. Shenn was promoted Capt. with the ANZAC Light Reinf. 21.2.1917. He was promoted to Captain 10.3.1917. Shenn was hospitalized with a disability 8.7.1917. On recovery he proceeded to AIF Head Quarters 0.1917. He was sent to a Training School at Sutton Veny 12.1.1918. Shenn proceeded overseas to France 30.4.1918. He was sent to a Coy. Commander Course with the 4th Army School. Shenn lacerated his foot in the field 24.5.1918. He marched out for return to Australia 7.1.1919.
Embarked for Australia per ‘Ascanius’ 17.3.1919 as Company Officer.
Returned/Disembarked 17.3.1919.
Discharged/Appointment terminated 24.5.1919.
