Piercy enlisted as a Private in WA. He joined the Engineering Div. in Sydney and was appointed Sapper with Engineer Reinf. He entrained with Engineer Reinf. to Melbourne 21.11.1917.
Embarked Melbourne per ’Nestor’ A71 to Egypt 21.11.1917.

Piercy and the Field Coy Engineers Reinf. disembarked at Suez 15.12.1917. They marched in to the Australian Camp at Suez from 15.12.1917- 8.1.1918. The Engineers embarked at Port Said per HMT ‘Kashgar’ for UK 9.1.1918. They disembarked at Southampton 30.1.1918 and marched in to Details No.3 Camp at Parkhouse 30.1.1918. Piercy was admitted to hospital at Tidworth with mumps 13.3.1918. He was discharged and marched in to No. 3 Camp at Parkhouse 20.4.1918 and then to Engineers Training Depot at Brightlingsea 20.4.1918. The Engineer Reinf. proceeded overseas to France 4.10.1918 were and taken on strength with the 3rd Field Coy. 14.10.1918. Piercy marched out from France 17.4.1919 for return to Australia. War Diaries do not show the 3rd Division Engineers  were actively engaged on the Front from late October, November and Armistice ( AWM 3rd Field Company Engineers War Diaries), although they were involved in projects such as sanitation and water supply etc  after Armistice.
Embarked for Australia per ‘Somali’ 1.6.1919.
Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 8.7.1919.

Notes Post war Piercy lived at 11 Wellman Street, Guildford, WA. His brother Joseph Eric Piercy was awarded a Military Cross and bar. A brother Ernest Roy died after a long illness in February 1910. His Father Frederick  Piercy was a well known identity in Guildford where he lived for many years. He  was a partner in Turton's Brickworks and started  the brickworks in Belmont that became H.L Brisbane and C. Wunderlich, he was also  a councillor and Mayor of Guildford. Frederick Piercy and family lived for many years at 71 James St Guildford. The home is no longer extant.
