Embarked Fremantle per HMAT 'Mashobra’ A 47 for Egypt on 8.2.1915.

Roll Unit 3rd Light Horse Brigade, 10th Light Horse Regiment, ‘A’ Squadron.
Lukin disembarked at Egypt and underwent a period of intensive training. Lukin was briefly hospitalised after a knee injury when his horse  was unsettled by a camel  McMullin. R. 2012 p 438-439)he embarked with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (MEF) at Alexandria for Gallipoli 16.5.1915. Lukin disembarked with his unit at Gallipoli. The 3rd Brigade of the 10th Light Horse Regiment participated in the assault on the Nek, Walkers Ridge, Gallipoli, 7.8.1915. Lukin was KIA together with many other officers and men in this charge. He was buried in the field and is now commemorated at the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula, Cannakkale Province, Turkey. His death was reported in  local newspapers (Sunday Times 24.10.1915 and the Sun Kalgoorlie 31.10.1915).

Notes Lukin was killed in the charge at the Nek with a number of men who had previously attended Guildford Grammar School, including the Harper brothers.
