Barnett was hospitalised whilst training at Blackboy Hill.
Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Borda’ A30 for England 29.6.1917.

Roll Unit 44th Battalion, 8th Reinforcement.
Barnett disembarked at Plymouth with the 8th Reinforcement, 44th Battalion. 25.8.1917. He marched in to the 11th Training Battalion at Larkhill 26.8.1917. He sustained an injury to his right knee during training and was admitted to the Military Hospital at Fovant 15.1.1917 and discharged as unfit for service 23.1.1918. He marched out to the No. 2 Command Depot at Weymouth 13.2.1918 and was listed for early return for a ‘change’.
Embarked for Australia per HT 'Borda' A30 5.4.1918.
Disembarked Fremantle 20.5.1918 (West Australian Newspaper 8.8.1918 p7)
Discharged NK.

Notes George's family lived in Guildford c1898. In that year his mother was recorded as giving birth to twins in this town. Lived at 6 Johnson Street and Wellman Street.
