Artillery Reinforcements, to Maribyrnong 3.6.1916.
Embarked Melbourne per ‘Ulysses’ A38 25.10.1916 for UK.
Roll Rank Gunner.
Roll Unit 7th Reinforcement 15th Field Artillery Brigade.
Connell disembarked at Plymouth 28.12.1916 and marched in to Larkhill with Reserve Brigade Artillery Australia 29.12.1916. He proceeded overseas to France 14.6.1917 and was taken on strength with 15th Field Artillery Brigade.  He was transferred to the 1st Anzac Mortar School 29.6.1917.  Connell rejoined his unit on 5.7.1917 and transferred to the 5th Field Artillery Brigade 15.8.1917.  Connell was taken on strength with 5th Field Artillery Brigade and joined the 13th Battery.  The 5th FAB fought  at the Third Battle of Ypres from 20th September 1917, Polygon Wood 26th September 1917 and the Battle of Battle of Amiens from March 1918. After Armistice, Connell joined the 4th FAB on 31.3.1919. He embarked for England and was listed for return to Australia
Embarked for Australia per ‘Ormonde’ 16.6.1918.
Returned/Disembarked 24.7.1919.
Discharged 13.8.1919.
