Military History


Wilson initially enlisted with the 44th Battalion, 6th Reinf. He was transferred to the 11th Battalion, 22nd Reinf.
Embarked Fremantle per ’Argyllshire’ A8 for UK 9.11.1916.
Roll Rank Private.
Roll Unit 11th Battalion, 22nd Reinf.
Wilson disembarked at Devonport, UK with the 11th Bn. 10.1.1917. He marched in to the 3rd Training Battalion at Durrington. He became sick and was diagnosed with rheumatism and bronchitis 10.2.1917. He was sent to Fargo Military Hospital (West Australian Newspaper 23.6.1917).  Wilson developed an abcess on is neck and was readmitted to Fargo Military Hospital 5.4.1917. Wilson returned to Australia for 6 months ‘change’ with ‘debility and myalgia’ and did not return to active service.
Embarked per HTDemosthenes’ 27.7.1917.
Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 18.9.1917.
Discharged 8.10.1917.
Final Rank Private, 11th Infantry Battalion, AIF.
Medical Condition Invalided with Myalgia.

Notes Wilson was not eligible for a Victory Medal as he did not serve in a theatre of War. He enlisted as a single man of Bridge street South Guildford and married Irene Grace prior to his departure overseas.
