Turton disembarked in Plymouth, England. He marched in to the 3rd Training Bn. at Durrington. He was admitted to hospital at Fargo for four weeks with a severe cold 18.12.1916. He was discharged to camp for light duties but became ill again and was admitted to hospital for 8 days with scabies and bronchitis . He was discharged but his health relapsed and he was hospitalised for 3 weeks with bronchitis. Turton was transferred to light duties in the Mobilization Store but continued to feel unwell. He was invalided back to Australia with reoccurring bronchitis, emphysema, alcoholism and reported senility. He was described as unfit for active service in mid 1917.

Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 11.9.1917.

Medical Condition Invalided general debility- permanently unfit for general service and home service.
