Roll Unit 8th Infantry Brigade, 32nd Battalion, ‘D’ Company, AIF.
Traylen disembarked at Suez, Egypt with the 32nd Bn. 18.12.1915. When the 32nd Bn. arrived in Egypt the AIF was undergoing a period of re-organisation, after the Gallipoli evacuation and planned action on the Western Front. Traylen became ill during his training and was admitted to the 8th Field Ambulance Field Post 20.5.1916, then admitted to 1st Australian Stationary Hospital. He was transferred to 3rd Australian General Hospital Cairo 12.6.1916 for Haemorrhoid surgery (Reported West Australian Newspaper 4.7.1916) Traylen was transferred to the Base at Ismailia 25.5.1916. He suffered some disability after surgery, and was listed for return to Australia for 4-6 months’ change’.
