Field Artillery Brigade Reinf. 8.2.1916. To Maribyrnong, Victoria.
Embarked. Melbourne per HMAT ‘Medic’, for England 20.5.1916.

Roll Unit 23rd Howitzer Brigade, Field Artillery Brigade.
The 23rd Howitzer Reinf. disembarked in Plymouth England 8.7.1916. The Reinf. Bn marched in to Larkhill and were transferred to the 36th Bty. 23rd FAB 1.10.1916. They were transferred to the 3rd Division Artillery Column 5.10.1916. Rupe was admitted to hospital 17.10.1916. He was discharged and rejoined his unit 20.10.1916. The Unit proceeded over seas to France 24.11.1916. Rupe was transferred to the Army General Base Depot 23.2.1917 and marched in to Abbeville 16.3.1917. Rupe was transferred to the 2nd Div. Artillery 23.3.1917 and to 6th FAB 16th Battery 25.3.1917 as Driver. He was hospitalised with tachycardia 17.11.1918 and admitted to Exeter Hospital with an aneurism 27.11.1918 (reported 30.12.1918 West Australian Newspapers). Rupe was transferred to the War Hospital in Exeter 30.12.1918 and listed for return to Australia as an invalid.
Embarked for Australia per ‘Lancashire’ 1.2.1919.
Returned/Disembarked Australia 21.3.1919.
Discharged 17.5.1919.
Final Rank. Driver, 6th Army AFA.
Medical Condition Invalided with debility following Hemoptysis. Medically unfit.
