Embarked from Fremantle per A 30 ‘Borda’ for Egypt 17.1.1916.
Roll Rank Private.
Roll Unit 8th Reinforcement, 28th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force.
Bingham disembarked at Suez with the 8th Reinforcement, 28th Battalion and marched in to No.7 Training Battalion at Zietoun 3.3.1916. With the reorganization of Battalions that occurred after the evacuation from Gallipoli, the 51st Battalion was created. Bingham was transferred to 51st Battalion at Tel-el-Kebir 3.3.1916. He was admitted to hospital in Abbassia with pain in his feet 23.4.1916 (Reported West Australian Newspaper 16.5.1916). He was struck off strength, as medically unfit for active service whilst at Serapeum 26.4.1916. Bingham was invalided to England and embarked from Alexandria per HS ‘Franconia’ for Plymouth (Reported in 169th Casualty List West Australian Newspaper 16.5.1916 p5). He as admitted to the Fargo Military Hospital, England 17.8.1916. Bingham was discharged to the 13th Training Battalion at Codford, Weymouth 13.5.1917 and listed for early return as an invalid.
Embarked for Australia per A24 ‘Benalla’ 25.8.1917.
Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 17.10.1917.
Discharged 9.11.1917.
Final Rank Private, 51st Infantry Battalion, Australian Imperial Force.
Medical Condition Invalided. Unfit for service, lumbago, vertigo, nervous disability (pre existing conditions).
