 Myles-Phillips embarked per HMAT
Embarked Melbourne per HMAT ‘Themistocles’ A 32 for Egypt 22.12.1914.
Roll Rank Lieutenant.
Roll Unit 3rd Brigade, 11th Battalion, 1st Reinf.
Lieut. Philips left WA  commanding  the 1st Reinforcements of the 11th Bn.
Phillips was appointed Assistant Adjutant at Base Details Camp Abbassia in Egypt 4.2.1915. He was promoted to Camp Adjutant at Abbassia 10.4.1915 and Camp Adjutant at No. 6 Sub Section Australian Intermediate Base at Zeitoun 16.4.1915. Phillips was appointed T/ Captain at Zeitoun 3.6.1915. He was promoted to Captain 1.7.1915. He was mentioned in General J.G. Maxwell’s Egyptian Dispatches re action 1.3.1916 that were gazetted in London 21.6.1916. Phillips embarked for England per SS ’Transylvania’ via Marseilles 17.6.1916. Phillips was appointed to Deputy Assistant Adjunct General (DAAG) at AIF  Dept Bhurtpore, Tidworth, England 25.7.1916. He was promoted to Major 1.1.1917. Phillips proceeded overseas to France 14.11.1917 and joined his unit 19.11.1917. He transferred  to the 11th Bn. from the General List. He left the 11th Bn. and took up a staff apointment on General Staff  22.11.1917 (Daily News 19.3.1917 p3 ). He recieved a second commendation from General Birdwood He proceeded to the 3rd Echelon 23.10.1918. Phillips marched in to No.2 Command Depot 27.2.1919. He marched out for embarkation to Australia 28.2.1919.
Embarked UK for return to Australia per HT ‘Euripides’ 11.3.1919.
Returned/Disembarked 20.4.1919
Appointment Terminated 8.8.1919.
Final Rank Major 11th Bn. 3rd Bde. AIF.

Notes His wife Mrs Myers-Phillips resided at the family home 'Zeitun' in Harper Street, Midland (Daily News 29.6.1917 p3). Following ill health she moved from her home to that of Mrs Alex Bisch of West Guildford until her husband's return. (Daily New s 4.7.1917 p3)  His wife also noted  that her husband embarked for Egypt 29.11.1914, not later in1915 as some local papers reported
