Pearce enlisted in service in 1911. He was attached to HMS ‘Sydney 27.1.1914, with the Engine Room Branch as ERA 4th Class. He was promoted to ERA 3rd Class 1.9.1914. he served with HT ‘Canberra’ in 19.10.1917 and transferred to HT ‘ Franklin’ 10.1.1919. Post WW1 he was attached to HT ‘Cerberus’ as ERA Class 2, 2.3.12.1920. He was promoted to ERA Class1, 26.12.1924. Pearce enrolled in the Royal Australian Fleet Reserve for 5 years from 1933 as ERA Class 1.

Discharged 8.8.1937.
