Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Anchises’ for Egypt 2.9.1915.

Roll Unit 16th Battalion, 8th Reinf, ‘A’ Coy.
Moore disembarked at Suez with the 16th Bn. He marched in to Alexandria, joined the MEF and embarked for Mudros 18.10.1915. Moore was taken on strength at Mudros and embarked with his Bn. for Gallipoli. Moore became sick and was admitted to hospital at Gallipoli, transferred by HS ‘Galisha’ to Alexandria with piles 4.11.1915. He was transferred to Heliopolis Hospital with haemorrhoids 7.11.1915 and discharged to his unit at Ismailia 30.12.1915. Following the reorganization of the AIF in 1916, the new recruits were combined with more experienced soldiers and the 48th Bn was formed. Moore was transferred to the 48th Bn. at Tel-el-Kebir 3.3.1916. He entrained to Alexandria, joined the BEF and embarked per HMT ‘Caledonia’ for France 2.6.1916. He disembarked with his Bn. at Marseilles 9.6.1916. The 48th Bn fought its first major Battle at Pozieres in August 1916. Moore was wounded in action with a GSW to his leg and chest 6.8.1916. He was taken to the 4th General Hospital ar Camiers, France 8.8.1916 (Reported in West Australian Newspaper  16.9.1916). Moore embarked from Calais per HS ‘Brighton’ for England. He was admitted to the General Hospital at Leicester 13.8.1916. He was discharged from hospital to Perham Downs and Furlough 15.9.1916. Moore marched in to No.3 Command Depot at Wareham 2.5.1917. He was transferred to Weymouth 4.5.1917 and listed for early return to Australia as an invalid for a ‘change’.

Returned/Disembarked 12.9.1917.
Discharged 18.10.1917.
Final Rank Private.
Medical Condition Invalided - GSW chest and leg - for a change.
