Roll Unit 3rd Light Horse Brigade, 10th Light Horse Regiment.
Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Mashobra’ for Egypt 8.2.1915.
Knight disembarked with the 10th Light Horse in Egypt 12.3.1915.  He marched into Mena Camp for a period of intensive training. He developed health problems which were ongoing throughout his period of service (1914-1919) with Colitis? Cholera, debility.
Knight  entrained to Alexandria, joined the MEF and embarked for  Gallipoli 12.3.1915 (also recorded as 16.5.1915). He arrived at the Peninsula 3.5.1915 and disembarked with his regiment 20.5.1915.  The 10th Light Horse was initially used in defensive roles at Gallipoli, although Knight's records show he was under fire in the trenches.  Knight did not take  part on the attack at the Nek as he was  transferred from Anzac to the 16th Stationary Hospital at Mudros with diarrhea on 6.8.1915. He returned to his unit 24.8.1915, however, became ill again and ws transferred by HS 'Guildford Castle'  to Alexandria 20.9.1915. Knight was transferred to the No. 2 Australian General Hospital at Ghezireh. His diagnosis changed to ? colitis. Knight reurned to his Unit 30.12.1915 following the evacuation of troops from Gallipoli.  He was promoted to Lance Corporal 22.1.1916. He marched out to Serapeum 26.2.1916 and then to the Railhead at Suez in April 1916. Knight became ill with Diarrhea  and was hospitalised until 11.5.1916. He was transferred 5.8 1916 to 3rd Light Horse Brigade Machine Gun Corps.  He was promoted to Cpl. 11.9.1916 and Acting Sgt 1.11.1916, Temporary Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant (T/SQMS) at Beersheba 31.10.1917  and to SQMS 1.11.1917. Knight was part of the famous charge at Beersheba.  He was promoted to 2nd Lieut. 28.2.1919 to transferred to 2nd Field Coy. Engineers 15.3.1919 and was promoted to Lieut. 5.4.1919. Knight embarked  at Port Said per HT ‘Tegus’ for the UK. He took leave entitlement and was listed for return to Australia

Notes Knight was born at 'Bebo Moro', Swan Street, Guildford.(West Australian Newspaper 7.1.1937)  Post WW1, Knight was placed in command of the Garrison Artillery  Unit at Albany. He transferred to Perth to the Lands Department in 1929 and died in 1936. (West Australian Newspaper 7.1.1937). Knight's brother Frederick William (SN 38168) also served in WW1. Both brothers were born at 'Bebo Moro,' Swan St.  Guildford. Knight was awarded a Military Cross. He died 24.12.1936.
