Embarked Fremantle per ‘Miltiades’ A 28 for Egypt 12.2.1916.

Roll Unit 3rd Brigade, 11th Infantry Battalion, 14th Reinforcements Australian Imperial Force (AIF).
Jones disembarked in Egypt with the 11th Battalion 14th Reinforcements 10.3.1916. After a period of intensive training, he entrained to Alexandria and joined the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) for France. He embarked per ‘Transylvania’ to France, with his ‘A’ Coy on 29.3.1916. He disembarked at Marseilles 4.4.1916. Jones joined the Base Depot at Etaples 8.4.1916. He was taken on strength with his Battalion 23.6.1916. Jones was KIA France at Villers-Bretonneux between 22nd and the 25th July 1916. His body was not recovered. Jones is commemorated at the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, Picardie, France.

Notes Jones was the brother of Victor  (SN 6100) who died of wounds and Harold Higgleton Jones(SN 3083) who returned invalided
