Hospitalised with Measles at Blackboy Hill Camp 24.8.1915.
Embarked Fremantle per ‘Benalla’ to Egypt 1.11.1915.

Allen disembarked at Suez with the 5th Field Ambulance. He proceeded to Alexandria and joined the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force as medical support for the Mediterranean Forces ex Gallipoli 4.12.1915. He was posted to the 2nd Australian Stationary Hospital at Mudros 7.12.1915.
Allen returned to Egypt and was detached to the No.3 Field Ambulance Tel-el-Kebir 2.2.1916. Allen was transferred to No. 2 Stationary Hospital Tel-el-Kebir 17.2.1916. He was taken off duty, sick to Hospital and struck off strength 6.4.1916. Allen was admitted to No.4 Hospital Train with dysentery 18.4.1916. He was discharged to his Unit 30.5.1916. Allen was transferred to 3rd Australian General Hospital 30.5.1916, then to 2nd Australian Stationary Hospital at Alexandria 7.12.1915. He joined the British Expeditionary Force and embarked per HMAT ‘Karoola’ for England 25.9.1916. Allen disembarked at Southampton. He proceeded overseas to France from Southampton per ‘Londonderry’ 11.4.1917. He was struck by lightning in April 1917 and hospitalised for 10 days. Allen was admitted sick to Abbeville Hospital, France 6.6.1917. On his recovery and discharge, he was transferred from 3rd Australian General Hospital to 5th Field Ambulance France, 12.6.1917. During this period, Allen was fighting in the trenches on the Somme, France. He was hospitalised with a septic focus, left patella 15.10.1918. He rejoined his Unit 18.10.1918. Allen was promoted to E.R. Corporal. 21.1.1919 and E.R. Sergeant 8.4.1919. He marched out of France for return to Australia. He embarked in England per HMAT ‘Nestor’ on medical duty for the return trip.
Embarked for Australia on duty per HMAT ‘Nestor’ 20.5.1919.
Returned/Disembarked 29.6.1919.
Discharged 11.7.1919.
