Roll Unit Australian Medical Service Reinforcements for Harefield Hospital.
Embarked Australia per HMAT ‘Orsova’ A67 for UK 22.7.1915.
Groves disembarked In Egypt. Marched in to Australian Army Medical Services (AAMS) Training Depot. He was transferred from the Convalescent Depot to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield,  England,and taken on strength 15.9.1915. Groves was promoted to L/ Cpl.1.1.1917 and then to Cpl. 1.6.17. He was promoted to Sergeant 13.12.1918. He continued to work in the Medical Corp Services in Hospitals through out his service period. He applied to be demobilised in England, due to wife's health and employment. His wife was resident on the Isle of Wight. He was demobilised as Sgt. AMC in England 24.10.1919.
Embarked for Australia per HT ‘Ceramic’ 12.3.1920.
Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 28.4.1920.
Discharged in UK 24.10.1919.
Final Rank Sergeant 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital Staff.
Medical Condition NK.
Awards and Medals 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal.
Notes 1914-15 Star returned 30.9.19121. Private did not serve in theatre of War .
Son Charles Groves based at Remount Depot, Guildford. WA. Archibald married his second wife  Florence Marianne after he  returned from overseas service. They moved to went to Kalgoorlie and in the late 1920s moved to Nannup and farmed there until his death in 1949 (South Western News 11.8.1949). Florence died in 1944 (South Western News 30.3.1944 p3)
