Embarked Fremantle per HT ‘Runic’ A 54 for Egypt 29.1.1916.

Edwards disembarked at Alexandria 26.2.1916. He marched in to Zeitoun 26.2.1916 and was taken on Strength 19.4.1916. He was transferred to the 4th Division Artillery as A/Sgt. 22.4.1916. Edwards was promoted to the Howitzer Brigade 22.4.1916.  Edwards joined the BEF and embarked at Alexandria for France 3.6.1916. He disembarked at Marseilles and entrained for Havre. He was posted in the Field, to the Artillery School in England in 1916. Edwards was  transferred to the 12th Army Artillery Field Brigade 25.1.1917 . His Brigade fought at Bullecourt and Reinecourt in April 1917. In June 1917 he was sent to the Royal Artillery School at St John's Wood, England   and received an Appointment of 2nd Lieutenant 3.11.1917.  He proceeded overseas to France 16.11.1917.  Edwards joined his Division which had suffered terrible losses at Ypres in the latter part of 1917.  He spent much of January and February in hospital and rejoined his Unit in Belgium 27.2.1918. He was promoted to Lieutenant 3.2.1918. Edwards  marched out for England 8.4.1919. Following a period of hospitalisation in May 1919, he was listed for return to Australia .
