Embarked Fremantle per ‘Ajana’ for Adelaide 30.10.1914.

Roll Unit 7th Field Ambulance, AIF.
Stewart embarked with his Unit from Adelaide for Egypt 31.5.1915. He disembarked Colombo with enteric fever 13.1.1915. This was diagnosed as Typhoid 18.4.1915. He embarked for Egypt. In Abbassia he was admitted to Hospital with a fever 28.7.1915. Stewart was transferred per HS ‘Runic’ to England as an invalid and admitted to the 3rd London General Hospital, UK. 16.10.1915. Stewart was discharged when fit and embarked from England for service in Egypt 19.12.1915. He disembarked at Alexandria per ‘Ionic’ 2.1.1916. He was promoted to Lieut. Col. 6th Field Ambulance 25.2.1916. Stewart was admitted to the Government Hospital in Suez 1.3.1916. He joined the BEF at Alexandria and sailed France 19.3.1916. He disembarked at Marseilles 26.3.1916. Stewart was transferred from 6th Field Ambulance to take command of 10th Field Ambulance 7.8.1916. The 10th Field Ambulance served in Belgium 15.9.1916. He left France by Mail Boat for England for return to Australia 17.9.1916
Embarked Portland UK per HMT ’Wiltshire for Australia 12.11.1916 on Completion of Service.
Returned/Disembarked 31.12.1916.
Discharged /Appt Terminated 8.1.1917.
Final Rank Lieut. Col. 10th Field Ambulance, AAMC.
