Embarked Fremantle per HM ‘Miltiades’ 29.1.1917.
Roll Rank Private.
Roll Unit 44th Australian Infantry Battalion.
Allom disembarked with the 44th Battalion at Devonport, England 27.3.1917. He marched in to the 11th Training Battalion at Durrington. He proceeded overseas to France 20.8.1917 where his Battalion fought in the Battles at Ypres. He was wounded in action at Broodseinde Ridge 14.10.1917- gun shot wound to face. Of the 992 men of the 44th Battalion who took part in Battles at Ypres, only 158 survived (ie alive and not wounded) (Australian War Memorial 44th Battalion). Allom rejoined his Battalion 25.10.1917. He was admitted to Hospital 27.9.1918, 29.4.1919 with a debility. He was hospitalised with a septic foot 23.6.1919. Allom developed cellulitis of the leg and was discharged for return to Australia.

Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 15.10.1919.
Discharged 23.11.1919.

Medical Condition NK (Cellulitis).
Awards and Medals British War Medal, Victory Medal.
Notes Allom returned, studied as an architect and became a partner in the noted firm of Cavanagh and Cavanagh. He was a noted sportsman and golfer.
