Fourth Son of H. E. Parry late of Railway Parade, West Guildford, WA.
Parry embarked with the first contingent of the 11th Bn. This was one of the first Bns. to be formed in response to the outbreak of War in Europe. It was formed in Perth.
Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Ascanius’ A11 for Egypt 2.11.1914.
Roll Rank Sergeant.
Roll Unit ‘B’ Company, 11th Battalion, 1st Australian Division, AIF.
Parry disembarked in Egypt with the 11th Bn. in early December 1914. They marched in to their Training Camp at Mena near Cairo in December. The Bn. underwent a 4 month period of intensive training. Parry was promoted to Platoon Sgt. of the No.3 Platoon 1.1.1915. He travelled with his Bn. to Alexandria where they joined the MEF for the Dardanelles Campaign. Parry embarked with ‘B’ Coy 11th Bn. per HMT ‘Suffolk’ 2.3.1915 for Gallipoli. Parry was admitted to hospital 17.3.1915. The Bn. first gathered at Lemnos island to prepare for the landing. They planned to depart Lemnos on 25.4.1915. Parry was promoted to 2nd Lieut. in the Dardanelles 28.4.1915. He was with the first group of Anzacs to commence landing at the Dardanelles (West Australian Newspapers 14.7.1915). Parry was KIA at ANZAC 28.6.1915. He was buried at Shell Green Cemetery 2, 1150 yards S.W. ANZAC Cove, Gallipoli Peninsula, Cannakkale Province, Turkey.

Medical Condition Deceased, KIA.
