Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Miltiades’ for 29.1.1917.

Roll Unit 28th Battalion, 19th Reinf, AIF
O’Grady disembarked at Devonport with the 18th Bn. 27.3.1917. He marched in to 7th Training Bn. at Rollestone 28.3.1917. O’Grady became sick and was admitted to Fargo Hospital with a fever 8.4.1917. He went AWOL on the night of the 2.5.1917 and was awarded with 2 days forfeiture of pay. He proceeded overseas to France via Southampton 16.7.1917. He marched in to Havre and was transferred from Reinf. to the 28th Bn. and taken on Strength with them in the Field 31.7.1917. O’Grady was wounded in action in the Field, in the 3rd Battle of Ypres, possibly near Polygon Woods. He received a severe GSW to his back and left arm 20.9.1917. (Reported in West Australian Newspaper 29.10 1917). He embarked as invalid per HS ‘Essington’ for England 25.9.1917. O’Grady was admitted to Bath War Hospital 26.9.1917. He was listed for early return to Australia as invalid with GSW to left arm
