Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Suffolk’ 23 for England 13.10.1916.

Roll Unit 7th Infantry Brigade, 28th Infantry Battalion, 16th Reinf.
Milford disembarked with his Bn. at Plymouth 2.12.1916. After an intensive period of training, he embarked for France 29.1.1917. Milford fought with the 28th Bn. at Bullecourt (May 1917) He was admitted to the University Hospital at Southampton with Trench Fever 12.6.1917. On recovery he marched in to the Overseas Training Bn. at Longbridge Deverill. He marched out to Southampton where he embarked for France 3.1.1918 and joined his Unit 9.1.1918. The 28th Bn. fought in the German Spring Offensive between March and May 1918 (AWM 28th Bn.). Milford was AWL for 3 days – and sentenced to 28 days. The Court Martial sentenced Milford to the No 4 Military Prison in France for 2 years 26.9.1918. His sentence was remitted 22.4.1919. Milford entrained and served with his unit for the remainder of sentence.
Embarked for Australia per ‘Main’ 23.7.1919.
Returned/Disembarked Melbourne 7.9.1919. To Fremantle 27.9.1919.
Discharged 3.11.1919.
