Embarked Fremantle per ‘Suevic’ A 29 for England 6.6.1916.

Roll Unit ‘B’ Coy. 44th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force (AIF).
Lydiate disembarked at Plymouth 21.7.1916. After a period of intensive training, he proceeded overseas to France 25.11.1916. He marched into Rouelles Australian Infantry Depot Base 5.5.1918 and was found to be under age. Lydiate was then transferred to the Australia Veterinary Hospital at Calais away from combat on 6.5.1918. He was detached with 44th Battalion to Australian Infantry Brigade Base (AIBB) 11.5.1918. Lydiate was appointed Shoeing Smith 9.11.1918 (under AIF orders 16.11.1918). He took leave 28.12.191 8- 11.1.1919 and was subsequently admitted to hospital with a debility 13.1.1919. He rejoined his unit 22.2.1919. Lydiate returned to England and marched into 1st Training Bde. Command Depot (CD) from France11.3.1919. He was listed for repatriation 19.8.3.19 and proceeded to Base Depot for return to Australia.

Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 27.4.1919.
