Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Argyllshire’ A8 for England 9.11.1916.
Rank Private.
Roll Unit 17th Reinforcement, 28th Battalion.
Anderson disembarked with the 28th Battalion, 17th Reinforcement at Devonport, England and marched in to the 7th Training Battalion at Rollestone. He was admitted sick to Hospital 17.2.1917. He was hospitalised 2.4.1917 and with scabies in 2.7.1917. The 28th Battalion, 17th Reinforcement proceeded to the Somme in France 14.6.1917. They were taken on Strength 3.7.1917 and fought at the 3rd Battle of Ypres near Zonnebeke and at Passchendaele.
Anderson was KIA 4.10.1917 at Broodseinde Ridge near Zonnebeke (Australian War Memorial Red Cross File). He was Buried Tyne Cot British Cemetery, Plot 27, Row F, Grave 16.
His name is Commemorated at the Menin Gate War Memorial, Ypres, West Vlaanderen, Flanders, Belgium.
