Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Miltiades’ A28 for 19.1.1917.
Roll Rank 2nd Corporal
Roll Unit 3rd Section Railway Corps.
Kelly disembarked at Devonport 27.3.1917. He marched in to St. Lucia Barracks, Borden 27.3.1917. He underwent a period of intensive training. During this time his unit was redesignated the 59th Broad Gauge Railway Operating Coy. Kelly proceeded overseas to France via Southampton 11.5.1917. He disembarked at Havre 12.5.1917 and was appointed 2nd Corporal. He was attached to the Railway Operations Depot at Borre 3.1.1918. Kelly was admitted to 4th Stationary Hospital with Influenza 25.11.1918. He rejoined his Unit 13.12.1918. Six months later he was demobilized and marched out at Havre for return to England 1.5.1919. He was promoted to T/Sergeant at Tidworth 26.5.1919. Marched out for Return to Australia in June 1919.
Embarked for Australia per “Konigan Louise’ for Australia 21.6.1919.
Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 3.8.1919.
Discharged 19.9.1919.
Final Rank 2nd Cpl., 5th Broad Gauge Railway Operations Coy, 3rd Railway Corps.
Medical Condition NK.
