Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Argyllshire’ A8 for UK 9.10.1916.

Hillman disembarked at Davenport, UK 10.1.1917. He marched in to 4th Training Bn. at Codford 10.1.1919. Hillman proceeded overseas to France 24.4.1917. He was sent to the Anzac Officers Rest House with a debility 11.8.1917. Hillman was promoted to Lieut. 14.8.1917. He rejoined his unit 25.8.1917. Hillman attended an Anzac Infantry Course at Avely 15.10.1917. He rejoined his unit 25.12.1917. Hillman was admitted to the Officers’ Rest Home at Torquet 23.6.1918. He rejoined his unit 2.7.1918 and was detached for tour of Duty with 12th Training Bn. Rifle Course 18.7.1918. Hillman marched in to Codford ex Hurdcott for return to Australia.
Embarked for to Australia per ‘Sardinia’ as Ship’s Subaltern 19.4.1919.
Disembarked Fremantle 28.5.1919.
Discharged/Appointment Terminated 5.7.1919.
Final Rank 2nd Lieut. 16th Infantry Bn. AIF.
Medical Condition NK.
Awards and Medals British War Medal, Victory Medal.
Notes:  Hillman worked as a chemist and analyst with the Royal Mint in Perth. He was a member of the Swan Roads Board (Swan Express 23.6.1949 p1). He died in 1964. Hillman had  2 brothers who served in WW1, Captain Arthur James Hillman( Mining Corps+ and Sergeant John Frederick Hillman (10th Light Horse).
