Embarked Fremantle per ‘Borda’ for Egypt 17.1.1916

Ferguson disembarked in Egypt with the 10th Light Horse. He was taken on strength with 3rd Reserve at Heliopolis 6.3.1916. He transferred to the 4th Division Artillery at Heliopolis 1.4.1916. Ferguson was transferred to the No.3 Section at Serapeum as T/Gunner 7.4.1916. He was promoted to Driver 24.5.1916. He proceeded to Alexandria, joined BEF and embarked per ‘Oriana’ for France 6.6.1916. He disembarked at Marseilles 13.6.1916 Ferguson transferred to the 11th Field Artillery Bde. 23.8.1917 and was re-mustered as Gunner. He was re allotted Regimental No 1866A in 14.9.1917. Ferguson was promoted to Bdr. 8.7.1918, to Cpl. 16.11.1918, then Temp/Sgt. He saw action across the Western Front. Ferguson was listed for return to Australia in 1919 when demobilised .
