Enlisted as Private with ‘A’ Coy 44th Bn. .
Embarked Fremantle per ‘Suevic’ A29 for England 6.6.1916.

Roll Unit 44th Bn. ‘A’ Coy. AIF.
Davies disembarked at Plymouth with the 44th Bn. 21.7.1916. He marched in to Larkhill with 44th Bn. and soon after was admitted to Fargo Military Hospital with influenza 22.8.1916. On discharge he rejoined his Unit and proceeded overseas to France 16.9.1916. He transferred from 44th Bn. to 11th Reinf. 10th Battery Field Artillery.(FAB) Davies was taken on Strength with 1st Artillery Division Base Depot 17.9.1916. He was struck off strength and joined 44th Bn. 29.9.1916. Davies fought with his Bn. in trench warfare on the Somme. He was admitted to Hospital with the 3rd Field Ambulance with rheumatism 24.10.1916 and was transferred by Hospital Ship to England. He was admitted to the 3rd London General Hospital with rheumatic fever 15.11.1916. Davies was discharged to the Depot 13.3.1917. He took furlough 13.3.1917-28.3.1917 and marched out to Weymouth, for early embarkation to Australia, invalided and unfit for active service.
Embarked Plymouth for Australia per ‘Barambah’ 8.4.1917.
Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 25.9.1917.
Discharged 28.7.1917.
Final Rank Private, 44th Bn. 11th Infantry Bde. AIF.
Medical Condition Invalided with dilated action beat of heart and rheumatism.
