Military History


Barker enlisted with 25th Reinforcement 11th Battalion 30.1.1917. He was transferred to 10th Light Horse 27.3.1917 as Trooper, then moved to the Camel Corps 16.4.1917.
Embarked Fremantle per ‘Port Sydney’ A15 for Egypt 22.5.1917.

Roll Unit April Reinforcement, 2nd Camel Corps.
Barker disembarked at Suez, Egypt with the 8th Reinforcement 2nd Camel Corps 20.6.1917. Barker was marched in to the Isolation Camp Moascar and from there to the ANZAC Reserve Depot at Abbassia 16.7.1917. He was posted to the 4th ANZAC Section 23.8.1917. Barker was admitted sick to hospital 27.9.1917. He rejoined his unit 30.9.1917 and joined the Camel Field Ambulance. He was detached to Tel-el-Fara, guards providing support for those at Beersheba 21.10.1917. He was transferred to Light Horse Details 1.7.1918 and Battalion HQ 4.6.1918. Barker was transferred to Detail Stores 14.1.1919 before being listed for return to Australia.
Embarked Kantara, Egypt per HT ‘Delta’ 2.8.1919 for return to Australia.
Returned/Disembarked Fremantle 3.9.1919.
Discharged 25.9.1919.
