Embarked Fremantle per HMAT ‘Militiades' A28 for Egypt 12.2.1916.
Roll Rank Private.
Roll Unit 14th Reinforcement, 11th Battalion.
Bailey disembarked at Suez with the 11th Battalion, 14th Reinforcement on 10.3.1916. He joined the British Expeditionary Force at Alexandria and embarked for England in May 1916. Bailey and his unit marched in to the 3rd Training Battalion at Weymouth 20.5.1917. Bailey was deemed unfit with cardio vascular problems and constant pain.  He worked as an orderly in the Orderly Room at Weymouth and was listed as permenantly incapacitated- for early return return to Australia with a debility (poor health) and over age. On arrival at Fremantle he was admitted  No8 AGH at Fremantle where he was described as in good condition with no incapacity and discharged
